Crowns & Pulp Therapy in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

When decay reaches the nerve of a baby tooth, pulp therapy (often called a baby root canal) removes the infected tissue so the tooth can stay in place until it's naturally ready to come out. A crown then caps and protects what's left, so your child can chew normally and the space for the adult tooth is preserved.

  • Saves teeth that are too damaged for a filling
  • Ends toothache and stops infection spreading
  • Stainless steel and tooth-colored crown options
  • Keeps the space open for the permanent tooth
  • Usually completed in a single appointment

Common questions

Why not just pull the tooth?

Because a missing baby tooth lets the neighbouring teeth drift into the gap, and the adult tooth underneath can then come in crooked or get stuck. Keeping the tooth until it's ready to fall out on its own is almost always better.

Is a baby root canal the same as an adult one?

No, and it's much simpler. We treat only the affected part of the nerve inside a tooth that's going to fall out anyway, so the appointment is far shorter than an adult root canal.

Will the silver crown be obvious?

On back molars, barely, and they're by far the most durable option for a child's chewing. Where the tooth shows in the smile, we can use a tooth-colored crown instead. We'll show you both and you choose.
